What’s on your bookshelf? I genuinely curious about what other people read. Do you stick with one genre or do you like to read everything? Only non-fiction? Seriously, what book are you reading now?
I’m one of those curious fools that will read anything if the slightest spark of interest in a topic hits me. As a result I have stacks of books laying around the house. I ran out of space on the bookshelves long ago. My office room looks more like a storage room than a workspace right now. Actually, it has looked like this for a long time. Who am I trying to fool? All of these books that I still have to read! Wasted money? Not a chance. Other worlds, mysteries solved, history to be learned from and lessons in the ways of life and liberty are to be discovered in those books. And that, my friends, is priceless.
I have a goal of reading 40 books this year. So far I have finished six. I have no idea how many I read last year. I used to use Goodreads to keep track of what I read but I got bored with that platform and seldom ever updated it. I went back to the old fashioned way of keeping track. I’m writing them down. One in particular that I would recommend to you is The 5AM Club. Before you roll your eyes and say that you’re never going to start getting up at that crazy hour of the morning give the book a try. It is filling with an interesting story of people trying to excel at their goals in life and a oddball guru that leads them for a while. Oh, and anything by Darcy Coates is a good idea if you like suspense and horror.
I’ll ask again. What are you reading right now?
Last year I read 66 books and this year so far 14 with a goal of 60. I love psychological thrillers (Diane Jeffrey, A.J. Rivers, T.M. Cromer, Carol Wyer, K.L. Slater, Daniel Hurst and Shalini Boland). I also enjoy romance (Mary Campisi, Barbara Freethy, and Debbie Macomber). One of my favorite authors is Cyrus Alderwood! ❤️ I have to use goodreads or I can’t keep up with what I read. Since they are all ebooks it automatically updates it for me.
An update...as of Dec. 15th I have finished 43 books. I'll list my top ten favorite books of the year in a post coming soon!!
